Dr. Nava Szwergold (she/her) joined the ThriveAgain team in January 2020 to provide top-quality physical therapy care in a holistic and supportive setting. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Smith College in 2006 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Arcadia University in 2013.
Nava has been providing specialty care in pelvic health for all genders since 2015 and has served as a mentor and resource for her colleagues in pelvic, pregnancy, and postpartum physical therapy. She is a Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist, holds Certificates of Achievement in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy and Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy from the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and is trained in the treatment of breastfeeding conditions. She is also a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the APTA. Outside the clinic, she has been a leader within the APTA of DC, advocating for policies to improve access to physical therapy services in the District.
Nava has specialized training in manual techniques including myofascial release, visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, and muscle energy technique. Her treatment is informed by a science-based understanding of the important connections between mind and body. She views physical therapy as a collaboration between patient and therapist, and her goal is to empower each patient with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve their highest level of function and best quality of life.
